The Global Oncology Interest Group is a place for the global community of cancer care providers to connect, engage in discussions, share information, as well as gather resources focused on professional development, funding, and opportunities that could benefit ASCO's global oncology community. ASCO recognizes the value its members put on networking and collaboration, and we are excited to provide members an environment to connect and engage with each other in real time. Let's get to know each other with a quick introduction about who we all are, where we live, and what we do.  I'll start:

My name is Rachel Solomon, and I am the Member Services Onboarding and Engagement Specialist here at ASCO. I live in Washington, DC and have been working at ASCO for nearly 2 years. Prior to that I spent nearly 6 years at an ovarian cancer nonprofit, working with the ovarian cancer patient advocate community.

We'd love it if you also give us a few words about yourself, and don't forget to add a picture and other details to your profile!

Hi, there, I'm Roselle De Guzman, a medical oncologist from Manila, Philippines with special interests in lung, renal, and head and neck cancers.  Clinic has been busy for the past few days after returning from the annual meeting in Chicago.  I hope those who also attended have pretty much catched up with your work and have things settled down.
I'm an ASCO member since 2006 and have been involved in some of its international programs.  I believe that we're at one of the most exciting points in oncology right now with ASCO's commitment in supporting global oncology and creating global impact. I'm grateful to be here with such an amazing group - connecting with friends and meeting new ones who are equally committed to achieving meaningful collaboration.  I look forward to where this takes us all. Hello everyone,

I have been working as the Scientific Director of the blended learning study program "Advanced Oncology" of Ulm University, Germany, for seven years now. The study program is based on the ESMO-ASCO recommendations for a global curriculum in oncology. Even though it addresses most aspects of oncology from an academic perspective, we integrate soft skill training for our students so that they develop their communication and negotiation skills further and are able to use the toolbox if instruments in order to improve oncology care in their surroundings and make an impact in the community they serve in.

In my function, I have encountered many dedicated oncologists and radiation therapists from all over the world and became acquainted with the challenges they face. During this time, I have developed a deep appreciation for their particular situations but also gained insight into mechanisms of resilience. I am happy to learn from the community even more in order to broaden my horizon but also to improve the study program so that it will meet the needs of the students!
